Looking for beta readers – fantasy romance

crystal ball on green

I’m wondering if you could help me out? I’m looking for beta readers for my first novel under this name, Goddess Found. It is a sweet romance set in a secondary world, in modern-equivalent times, and is based around a magical reality TV show.

First two chapters

Blurb

Leta is hired to be an assistant on Goddess Found, the reality aethercast that is looking for God Incarnate Jack Starshadow’s counterpart, but the contestants of the aethercast aren’t happy to see the non-mage assistant getting so much time with the God Incarnate. Jack seems to enjoy her company, though, and Leta can’t help but feel drawn to him, despite knowing someone like her couldn’t possibly be the Goddess Incarnate.

Trigger warnings

Bullying, domestic abuse of a secondary character, fat-shaming (which is portrayed as wrong), alcohol consumption (without drunkenness)

Beta copy location

I’ve made my beta copy in StoryOrigin, so ideally beta readers would have a free account there to be able to read. (I highly recommend StoryOrigin anyway; it’s a useful resource for writers.) If you really don’t like StoryOrigin but still want to read, let me know and I could sort out a different version somewhere else.

What I’m looking for feedback on

  • Character development
  • Whether the world / magic makes sense
  • Pacing
  • Whether the romance develops at a good pace
  • Whether the secondary characters are supporting the story
  • If the conclusion is satisfying

Timeline

I’d like feedback from betas by the end of May

Beta swaps

I’m happy to trade beta reads with someone else who has a similar length manuscript. I’m willing to beta not only other fantasy romance books, but also urban fantasy, high fantasy, contemporary romance, or even sci fi. I am a LGBTQIA+ friendly reader.

If you’re interested, or have any questions, please contact me via my contact form or request access to the beta copy directly on StoryOrigin.
