Other Worlds ~ a sci-fi anthology

Other Worlds ~ a sci-fi anthology

The Other Worlds: Star Lore & Moon Myths sci-fi anthology has been out for a little while. I have my paperback copy now, and it’s gorgeous. If you’re going to pick up a copy, I highly recommend getting the paperback. But if ebooks are your thing, you can find it at many retailers for a very reasonable price.

My story in the anthology is called ‘Those Who Touch the Spaces Outside the Universe’ (read an excerpt here). It’s an exploratory story written in a new world. I’d like to expand this story in the future. For now, though, you can get a taster in this anthology, and also read seven other stories by excellent writers.

Writing news

In other news, I’ve finished writing the draft of book 3 of the Planet Android trilogy (without the use of GenAI, by the way; I still write my books with my own brain and fingers). I’m going to let it sit for a moment, then crack into the revisions soon. Book 3 is titled Sanctuary on Planet Android. It’s currently sitting at about the same length as book 2, but we’ll see what happens in revisions.

I’ve also been working on another project that I can’t talk about yet, but I’m really excited to share it with you at the right time. Watch this space.

Statement on the world

I also just wanted to take a moment to state my thoughts on the world. I’ve been quiet on socials lately. Partly that’s because I’ve been hunkering down getting work done. But it’s also because there are so many awful things going on in the world, and I’ve felt weird about promoting my books in this climate. I also have thoughts about how strange it feels to talk about social injustices on accounts meant to promote my own economic interests (namely by encouraging book sales).

But I assure you that outside book promoting spaces I am not silent. I abhor what’s going on in Gaza, and Sudan, and Congo, and the United States. Looking after people, keeping them safe, and keeping them fed should never be something that we question. It should be what we do by default. No political situation can justify the erosion of rights, and certainly not the starvation of children.

So, that’s my 2 cents.

That’s all for today. I’m going to get back to work now. And also find a new aid organisation to send a bit of money to.

Mysteries of Planet Android out today!

Mysteries of Planet Android out today!

My latest scifi romance book, Mysteries of Planet Android, is out today! You can find it at your preferred retailer here.

Mysteries of Planet Android is a scifi romance murder mystery with a grumpy x sunshine pairing in a forced proximity green flag romance.

Blurb:

The crew of the Sunda Tiger is stranded on Research Colony 227C. They have no ship. No comms. And no choice but to work with their android hosts despite all their lingering doubts.

Shaula wants to focus on the androids’ missing memories, but she is instead assigned to the salvage of the Sunda Tiger. Can she succeed in this group project? Of all androids, she is the least likely to get along with people, particularly chatty, upbeat humans…

Faolán, also assigned to the salvage crew as security, is trying his best to buoy the spirits of the group. Though even he’s finding it hard as interpersonal conflicts arise, and he has his own worries about medical care. It doesn’t help when certain grumpy androids start making his life more complicated…

Just when they all think things couldn’t get any worse, tragedy strikes in the form of murder. Shaula and Faolán must work together to identify the murderer in the salvage crew and bring them to justice. Who wants the salvage to fail, and why? What is the murderer trying to hide? With the androids’ memories compromised, any one of them could have been used as the murder weapon.

Even Shaula herself.

I’m pretty happy with this book. Faolán and Shaula’s story has been fun to write. I hope you enjoy it!
