Welcome! My name is Calanthe. I write fantasy romance and sci fi romance. My particular interest is stories about loving, supportive relationships. I like green flag romances, and endearing characters.
I live in the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, with my husband, my child, and a fluffy cat. The first book I ever wrote was essentially a retelling of Black Beauty that I wrote and ‘published’ (read: ‘stapled together into a booklet’) when I was eight years old. I’ve wanted to be an author ever since.
I like cooking, baking, and gardening, and I read far too many webtoons. I am a life-long fan of Star Wars.
Don’t be fooled by my soft interests: I have Opinions. Stances I will not waver on:
- Women’s rights
- Queer rights
- Indigenous rights
- Disabled rights
- Trans, non-binary, and takatāpui rights
- Abortion is health care
- Everyone deserves shelter, health care, and food
- The justice system in its current form exacerbates problems with all of the above.
I am a pākehā settler living on the ancestral homelands of the Kāi Tahu iwi. I bear a great debt of gratitude to Kāi Tahu for the unwilling loan of their land to support my family and many others. I support and encourage my government to move towards true reparations and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the way we should have always done.
